Aquilegia vulgaris var. stellata 'Black Barlow' (Columbine) is a very popular and versatile perennial approximately 80 cm high for sunny or shady positions in the border or wild garden. This strain produces striking 'black'/extremely dark maroon flowers in late spring and early summer. The plant usually self seeds.
This plant will grow in any well drained garden soil in sun or shade.
