Convallaria majalis (lily of the Valley) is a fine plant for a shady situation. The sweet scented flowers are out in Spring, and then the leaves provide groundcover through the Summer. It spreads by underground runners.
This plant will grow best in a sheltered partially shaded position in humus-rich soil. It is a native wild flower, growing wild on the edges of woods.
