Darmera peltata (Umbrella Plant) is a spectacular plant for a waterside garden. The tall pink flower heads emerge in spring before the leaves. Then the umbrella leaves 1-2 feet across make a fine feature in summer.
This plant will grow in sun or shade in any reasonable garden soil. It likes humus rich soil and does well in a partially shaded situation. It is particularly suited to growing by the waterside.
