Dicentra spectabilis (Bleeding Heart) is a classic border perennial plant grown for the beautiful heart shaped rosy red flowers with protruding white petals hanging from arching stems 2 to 3 feet tall in May and June. The attractive green divided foliage comes up each spring and dies down in winter.
This plant prefers a humus rich soil in a sheltered spot. It will grow in sun or partial shade.
