Geranium sanguineum (Bloody Cranesbill) is a low-growing hardy geranium native to the British Isles. The 1 inch across striking bright purplish crimson flowers are out between June and August. The seed heads have a long pointed 'beak', hence the name 'cranesbill. The foliage is deeply cut.
Geranium sanguineum will grow in any reasonable well drained garden soil in sun or shade. The height is 4-12 inches and the clump will spread slowly.
