Helleborus Mixed (Lenten Rose)

Helleborus orientalis always makes a fine show in any garden. In January to April it produces the most spectacular flowers, when very little else is blooming. Then, after flowering, the mound of tough green leaves provide an architectural foliage feature in the border, or first rate ground cover in the shade, for the rest of the year.
Helleborus orientalis plants will grow in sun or shade and will tolerate wet clay or dry soil. There are generally no pests or diseases. You can trim off the old leaves as the flowers and the new leaves come up in spring. Otherwise, just watch the clump grow bigger, and look out for the self sown seedlings coming up to provide you with more plants.
