Symphytum 'Hidcote Blue' (Comfrey)

Symphytum 'Hidcote Blue' (Comfrey) is a beautiful and versatile plant for the border, for ground cover or for the wild garden. The tough dark green leaves provide an attractive mound of foliage about 60 cm high in the border or a spreading mat of foliage in a more wild setting.
The beautiful pale blue flowers make a fine show in April, along with spring flowering bulbs, hellebores etc. In the border the spreading shoots need to be cut back firmly to the core of the plant after flowering, to prevent it from taking over the whole border. This plant will flourish in any garden soil in sun or shade, including deep shade dry shade and boggy places.
