Viola labradorica (Labrador Violet)

The Alpine Violet (viola labradorica) has beautiful bluish-lilac flowers in early spring above dark purplish green leaves. The plant spreads by self seeding and to some extent by sending out runners.
This plant will grow in any well drained garden soil in partial shade. It is happiest in organic soil in a sheltered spot.
